Barrier1 Introduces Two New Products
• Complete NAC
• 1-to-1 Complete
Minneapolis, Minn. March 10,2011- Barrier1, a fast growing Intelligent Network Security
manufacturer, announces the release of “Complete NAC (network access control)” and “1-to-1
Complete.”
Complete NAC and 1-to-1 Complete solve the problems existing NAC solutions have faced. Traditional
NAC solutions are expensive and difficult to install and maintain, they may not work in existing
infrastructure, and they work independently from the rest of the network. Jason McDonald, Barrier1
NAC Architect, states “Barrier1 design goals were set out to change the landscape of NAC by bringing
automation, ease of use, and inclusion of the endpoint as part of the Intelligent Network Architecture.”
Barrier1 Complete NAC and 1-to-1 Complete solves those problems. The innovative design brings
automation without wholesale network changes to NAC functions of Remediation, Enhanced Security,
Compliancy, Monitoring, and Alerting. In addition, end points are now part of the Intelligence System
Barrier1 pioneered.
Barrier1 1-to-1 Complete, designed for the educational market, directs all PC’s traffic through Barrier1.
This design allows complete traffic inspection including the Payload, URL/Web Site Control based on
Acceptable Use Policies, web site, virus, and malware.
Any IP device that connects into a network becomes part of that network. For years attempts have been
made to protect these individual mobile devices with personal firewalls and antivirus products. However,
cyber criminals have continued to find innovative ways to compromise these PC’s without users knowing.
Along with that, enterprise systems and Wide Area IP Networks (ISP) were not were in place to protect
existing networks from these mobile and potential compromised PC’s.Those that were available were
difficult and expensive to install and maintain. This allowed an OPEN hole or entrance to existing
networks.
Five years ago, Barrier1 launched the concept of inspecting ALL 7 OSI layers from any IP devices, using
intelligence in near real time. While traditional approaches were concerned with just the edge, Barrier1
was inspecting all IP devices, and using its patent-pending Intelligent “AARE Engine” to go beyond
list-based methods. Barrier1 Complete closes another possible entry point into enterprise networks and
wide-area networks. In today’s world, manufacturers should be able to stop the known attacks; it is the
unknown or never-before-seen that is difficult. Barrier1 has a five-year history of accurately identifying
and blocking newly launched attacks. Barrier1 COMPLETE NAC and 1-to-1 COMPLETE will further
enhance an organization’s security.
